Introductory Courses

Getting Started with Digital Machines

The MakerLab offers introductory courses on digital fabrication machines: laser cutters, CNC routers, 3D printers, and digital embroidery machines.

These training sessions provide an opportunity to learn about the equipment, how to use it, and the basics needed to operate it independently.

Digital machines: what are they used for?

Digital manufacturing and rapid prototyping machines make it possible to design, test, and manufacture parts with precision, while exploring new shapes and materials.

At the MakerLab, they are used for:

  • prototyping
  • small-batch production
  • creative experimentation
  • artistic, educational, or professional projects

Introductory Courses

Offered weekly, these introductory sessions provide an opportunity to learn how to use the machines (laser cutting, CNC milling, digital embroidery, or 3D printing).

Over the course of two hours, participants will learn about:

  • the principles of digital manufacturing
  • how the machine works
  • related software
  • Terms of Use
  • safety rules

The purpose of these sessions is to enable participants to reserve machines for independent use afterward.
Participation in an introductory session is required to gain access to the machines.
